 1.01.03 Mackay Marine Acquires Maricom Electronics - Enhancing Charleston, SC Depot & Adding Savannah, GA Offices Raleigh, NC (January 2003) Mackay is pleased to announce the acquisition of Maricom Electronics with field offices in Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC. Maricom’s employees, including marine technicians and Nextel/Motorola Radio specialists, will be divided between the two port cities. Their Charleston office will merge into Mackay’s current Charleston location. Maricom’s co-founders will take on key Mackay management roles to retain the positive presence they’ve developed in the region. In Savannah, Bill Willingham will be the Depot Manager, with Lou Lindsay as Service Supervisor. Tony Smircic will serve as Charleston’s Service Supervisor. Founded in 1972, Maricom has grown to be the dominant Charleston and Savannah sales and service provider for high seas, small commercial, pleasure craft and over-the-counter marine electronics products, promoting manufacturers’ brands that include Furuno, Raymarine, Raytheon, Skanti, Motorola, Nextel, Seatel and Simrad. These products overlap with Mackay-represented lines of over 40 OEM (original equipment manufacturers) such as JRC, Nera, Globalstar, Motorola, VAF, Anschutz, Jotron, Yokogawa, etc. Combining Maricom’s penetration of this region, with the balance of Mackay Marine’s strong presence along the Eastern Coast and Caribbean sector, results in an even greater market share for Mackay, thus enabling them to more consistently service their U.S. and International marine and land-mobile customers.
