 9.03.02 Mackay Marine Acquires Tamrad, Tampa, FL Tampa, FL (September 3, 2002). Mackay Marine, a division of Mackay Communications, is proud to announce the acquisition with Tampa Marine Radio, Inc. ("Tamrad"). Mackay plans to merge their existing Tampa operation with Tamrad’s facilities, technical talent and customer base. Ron Hardin (former Tamrad President) will contribute his talents as Mackay’s Manager of Business Development for the Florida area. The newly consolidated group will continue to serve as Mackay Marine’s Tampa field office and will be relocating to Tamrad’s 4,000 square foot showroom and service depot at the boulevard entrance to the Port of Tampa. Tamrad has been in the marine equipment sales and service business for over 20 years, having developed attractive relationships with high seas, tug, and shipyard operators in the area. Tamrad has a long-standing reputation in selling RayMarine and Furuno brand navigation and communication equipment to pleasure craft customers. Tamrad’s varied customer base is complementary to Mackay’s 30 years of serving high seas commercial vessels that pass through the port of Tampa and other nearby dock facilities. Mackay’s new location will provide ready access to both commercial and light marine customers for service and new marine equipment, including sales of retail products.
